International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) Rector Prof Emeritus Datuk Dr Osman Bakar has been conferred the National Tokoh Maal Hijrah award at the national-level Maal Hijrah 1448H/2026 celebration held at Putra Mosque in Putrajaya on June 17. The prestigious recognition celebrates individuals who embody Islamic values and contribute significantly to the advancement of Islamic knowledge and community well-being in Malaysia.

The accolade places Osman Bakar among a select group of Malaysian figures deemed to exemplify exemplary leadership and scholarly contribution to Islamic thought and education.
